Description (What the record is about)
-
Philip Stephens. The Lyon transport is appointed to receive the drafts and recruits that are to be embarked at Gravesend and Plymouth. Ask if she should proceed from Plymouth to Cork to take in more of the drafts to complete the number for which she is fitted, as otherwise the rest of the transports of that Division will be overcrowded. She will be ready to sail to Gravesend on Thursday, but will defer sailing orders pending your answer. The Prosperous Armilla, William Slater Master, is now ready to receive the Baggage and horses of the 3 Major Generals. When this is on board she will proceed to Portsmouth to embark the horses and proceed to Boston. There are no ships for the 13 Officers with 74 Privates of the 14th Regiment, to be embarked at Dover in one of the ships going to Boston without calling at Cork. Three hired for carrying the Officers, recruiting parties and Recruits, are fitting for that service and will inform when these are ready. Meanwhile ask whether those to be embarked at Dover are in addition to the recruiting parties and recruits mentioned in the order of the 17th, to judge whether the tonnage of the ships will be sufficient for both purposes
