Philip Stephens. Captain Robinson of the Preston has asked for the payment of the carriage of the chests and bedding from London to Portsmouth belonging to some men who entered for that ship. He has been informed that we could not order such payments for any men, who have not entered agreeable to Act of Parliament and it does not appear that any Officer was employed in London to enter men for the Preston or that any did so enter. Ask whether those who sent their chests and bedding from London and entered on the Preston in consequence of the invitation bills placed in London, should not be allowed the carriage of them and paid conduct money upon the Captain certifying thereto
