Description (What the record is about)
-
Philip Stephens. Captain St. John of the Edgar, informs us that several men entered on the ship whilst she was abroad and asked whether they are entitled to the Bounty. It does not appear where the men entered and some of them are not noted to have appeared until more than a month after their entry. A sum was allowed on Commodore Spry's account for the Bounty of 17 volunteers, who entered on ships in North America after his advertisement of February 1756 and if Captain St. John published the Proclamation abroad and the volunteers entered from it, opine they are entitled to Bounty as if they had entered at home or if Captain St. John certifies he promised them the encouragement
