Philip Stephens. Captain Davies of the Hunter sloop, stationed to cruize from Holyhead to the Isle of man and Mull of Galloway, and to Whitehaven and Liverpool and calling at Whitehaven or Liverpool for orders, reports he has discharged his Pilot by order, but because of the shifting sands it is dangerous for the sloop to keep the sea without having a skillful person on Board and asks to be allowed to continue a Pilot. We cannot find a Master qualified to undertake the charge of piloting the sloop on that station so have given directions to Captain Davis to employ a Pilot when absolutely necessary and discharge him as soon as the service is ended
