Description (What the record is about)
-
Philip Stephens. The bottoms of the new ships laying up at Sheerness may be injured by the worm if continued there for the usual time of 3 years before they are docked. Have ordered the Yard Officers to lighten the Triumph and provide her with a jury mast and sails to be navigated to Chatham with men from the Ordinary and to return her to Sheerness after her trimming is completed. The men of the Ordinary could be employed on other services, when she is ready to sail, so ask for the Commander in Chief to be directed to order such a number of men to be spared from the Guardships
