Description (What the record is about)
-
Philip Stephens. Lieutenant Orsbridge informs us he has finished the model of a dock the more ready for cleaning and preserving of HM ships. Some merit is due him for his proposition and the time taken to produce the model but do not think it practicable to build it a Port Royal, Jamaica for which it is intended. Mr. Orsbridge also asked for a report on his machine to sweeten stale and nauseous water on ships. The Woolwich Officers were unable to obtain suitable water for a trial. From the nature of the machine it seems likely to produce the effect he recommends. The Dolphin and Tamar have been supplied with the machines as have the Jason and Carcass
