Description

Philip Stephens. Lieutenant Barkely of the Hunter cutter has written about a rowing boat. Most of the cutters had boats purchased with them, others that had none were provided with new light boats of the length they used to carry. The 6-oared boats built for rowing would be of great use in the pursuit of smugglers in calms or through places where the cutters cannot go but we do not know what can be done with such boats at sea for the reasons given. Opine a trial should be made of them in lieu of those they now have
