Description (What the record is about)
-
John Clevland. The transport to be provided for the twenty horses and baggage for the General and Staff Officers in the Portuguese Service, is to be at Portsmouth to sail with the same convoy as the Cavalry. There are only the John and Ann, Three Sisters and Providence horse ships now at Portsmouth. The first is to carry Artillery horses from Bell Isle for the Ordnance, the second to carry part of Bourgoyne's from the same island and will not be ready until Saturday night and the last is to carry the Prince of Meckenburgh's horses. Ask which service is most pressing in case one of the three ships can be used to take the 20 horses for the Portuguese service. The Amity's Advice transport from Martinique has arrived at Portsmouth so will use that vessel to take the baggage
