John Clevland. Captain Middleton informs us the Adventure is under sail. Her masts and yards are exactly the same length as those she had when first built as a 40-gun ship. We have never had a complaint of similar ships in want of sail. The French ships are frequently irregularly masted and no alteration is made until the ships have been tried with them. If when her present yards are found unserviceable, you order an addition to the main and fore course, we opine it should not be more than two cloths to the main and one to the fore.
