John Clevland. Samuel Smithurst, late Boatswain of the Queenbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle, has asked for dispensation for his books and papers. He has served on those ships but the books of the Sunderland and the Queenborough were forwarded to England on the Clinton East India ship and were lost but the Captains have passed their accounts for the time he was Boatswain and opine they can be dispensed with. The Newcastle was lost at sea so the accounts for that ship can be dispensed with under the General Order of 20th August
