Description

This artificial collection was accumulated initially by the British Transport Commission following the Transport Act of 1947. The records are drawn from a variety of sources, including the London Passenger Transport Board established by the London Passenger Transport Act of 1933, and from related organisations and private collections. They include:

Arrangement

These records were arranged into subject groupings by the BTHR Office whose registry system allocated them series references. Records transferred into the BTHR Office in the years following the period of nationalisation up to 1977, related by subject to existing series, joined those series and were given series references.
