Folio 221. An announcement, printed by Prince, Printer, Bookbinder and Stationery, East Street, Bridport, regarding special constables in Bridport, [Dorset], produced by order of the magistrates, and signed E Nicholetts.
The announcement states that the special constabulary force of the borough will be divided in 33 sections containing 10 special constables under the command of those listed below. The special constables will be expected to meet at the head of their sections house at the first signs of trouble 'where they will be furnished with proper Staves of Office'. The heads of section will march sections to the Market House and the magistrates will be present to manage the operations of the force.
