Folio 14: James Spencer, aged 18, private marine; taken ill at, Downs; disease or hurt, complains of want of appetite, accompanied with debility at time feels a slight degree of nausea and has alternate hot and cold fits the pulse in general regular but weak and small and the lad of a delicate weak constitution; taken ill, 8 October 1808; sent to hospital at Deal 22 October 1808.
Folio 14: John Hubbertr, aged 27, seaman; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, feels a pain under the middle of the sternum inclining to the right side and has cough and difficulty of breathing with some thin expecteration; taken ill, 15 October 1808; discharged 13 December 1808 to duty.
Folio 15: David Finnagin, aged 34, seaman; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, swelling and pain on the inside of the right thigh about 8 inches below [?] ligament, the tumor the size of the large hen egg and quite hard; taken ill, 18 October 1808; discharged 10 December 1808 to duty.
Folio 15: Thomas Grigg, aged 40, seaman; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, pain in the left side about the middle of the fifth rib with short tickling cough and difficulty of breathing; taken ill, 20 October 1808; discharged 10 November 1808 to duty.
Folio 16: John Wager, aged 26, seaman; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, this man fell from the mizen stay upon the bits and ran one of the pins into his back over the first lumbar vertebra the wound was as deep as the bone which was in part exposed there was considerable contusion around the part and all over the loins with very great pain and inability to stand or walk; taken ill, 29 October 1808; discharged 4 December 1808 to duty.
Folio 16: James Perkins, aged 33, seaman; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, complains of universal pain but more especially between the shoulder considerable difficulty of breathing; taken ill, 29 October 1808; discharged 25 November 1808 to duty.
Folio 17: William Addison, aged 20, private marine; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, complains of weakness and lassitude with anorexia accompanied with slight headache; taken ill, 4 November 1808; sent to hospital 20 November 1808.
Folios 17-18: Robert Wood, aged 18, private marine; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, slight pain in the right side of the chest with some difficulty of breathing the pulse very quick and small the respiration very much hurried upon the slightest exertion causing panting and dyspnea no cough or expectoration and does feel otherwise ill; taken ill, 7 November 1808; discharged 10 January 1809 to duty.
Folio 18: John Gray, aged 35, boatswain's mate; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, feels pain in the right side with cough, impeded respiration and a full and hard pulse the skin increased in heat and complains of general uneasiness; taken ill, 9 November 1808; discharged 12 January 1809 to duty.
Folio 19: Samuel Wright, aged 23, seaman; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, cough, difficulty of breathing pain in the right side and pyrexia; taken ill, 18 November 1808; discharged 30 November 1808 to duty.
Folio 19: Martin Connoly, aged 40, private marine; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, has swelling redness and pain in both ancle [ankle] joints, also affects various other parts the pulse full and hard this man is very subject to rheumatism; taken ill, 24 November 1808; discharged 1 January 1808 to duty.
Folio 20: William Blewit, aged 19, private marine; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, complains of pain in the left side difficulty of breathing cough headache; taken ill, 1 December 1808; discharged 24 December 1808 to duty.
Folio 20: Mr Williams, aged 21, assistant surgeons; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, had been complaining from the 26 November of occasional headache with frequent chills and flushes of heat attended by want of appetite and debility; taken ill, 1 December 1808; sent to hospital 5 December 1808 at Deal.
Folio 21: James Williams, aged 27, seaman; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, is affected with nausea, headache and anxiety the skin hot and the pulse frequent he feels and complains of general pain but especially in the small of the back he took a weak emetic; taken ill, 10 December 1808; sent to hospital 13 December 1808 at Deal.
Folio 21: Ebenezer Moser, aged 40, seaman; taken ill at, Downs; disease or hurt, this man by a fall down a ladder hurt and bruised his left side which occasioned a tumour, blackness and much difficulty of breathing he was bled and purged saturnine applications with a roller and compress were applied to the tumour; taken ill, 11 December 1808; discharged 22 December 1808 to duty.
Folio 21: Archibald Godsal, aged 34, seaman; taken ill at, Downs; disease or hurt, this man had been under a tedious course of mercury for a bubo which he had in each groin they could not be [?] but suppurated and continued long open, both groins had upon a former occasion been opened in several places and hard cicatrises afterwards remained; taken ill, 5 December 1808; sent to hospital 10 December 1808 at Deal.
Folio 22: Richard Morgan, aged 30, seaman; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, complains of great pain and uneasiness in the left thigh with inability to use much motion, on examination a small tumour was observed on the inside a little below the groin there was but little discoloration or tension; taken ill, 12 December 1808; sent to hospital 25 December 1808 at Deal.
Folio 22: William Shorac, aged 18, private marine; taken ill at the Downs; disease or hurt, complains of headache, nausea and loss of appetite feels alternate flushes of heat and cold the pulse small and frequent the tongue a little furred; taken ill, 18 December 1808; sent to hospital 25 December 1808 at Deal.
