From piece 65 onwards, in each entry, the industry is identified by its Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) number, (which was adopted by all government departments in 1948 to give official statistics greater uniformity), as well as its Ministry of Labour number. Between 1960 and 1966, the analyses for the coalmining industry (SIC 2) were presented separately from all other industry's analyses, and each volume title indicates the SIC numbers of the industries included in the volume.
