This series comprises papers of the Royal Commission on Trade Unions and Employers' Associations. The papers include minutes, submissions made and evidence given by various authorities, commercial enterprises, trade unions and individuals and the research papers compiled from these findings for consideration by the commission, and a copy of the report of the commission.

Administrative / biographical background

The Royal Commission on Trade Unions and Employers' Associations was appointed by Royal Warrant dated 8 April 1965, 'to consider relations between managements and employees and the role of trade unions and employers' associations in promoting the interests of their members and in accelerating the social and economic advance of the nation with particular reference to the Law affecting the activities of these bodies'. The commission was chaired by Counsellor Terence Norbert, Baron Donovan. The report of the commission was presented to Parliament and published in June 1968 [Cmnd.3623].
