The Cameroons. 'British Cameroons Plebiscite. Voters at the Cameroons plebiscite were asked to put their ballot papers in either the white box (pictured right) representing the views of those who wish to remain with the Northern Region when the Federation of Nigeria becomes independent next October, or the orange box (pictured left) representing the views of those wanting to defer deciding their political future until a later date'.
