Report of Mr Justice John Bayley on 2 individual petitions (J Bennett and David Banham, prosecutor) on behalf of Samuel Harvey, aged 17, convicted at the Summer Norwich Assizes, Norfolk, of highway robbery on the 24th May 1826. He was charged with stealing 2 sovereigns, 1 crown, 2 half crowns, 2 shillings, and 1 sixpence from David Banham of Newton, Norfolk. Harvey is currently on the Leviathan hulk at Portsmouth. Character reference for Harvey endorsed by John Harbord; Thomas Macke; William Walpole; George Goodrick; William Browne; and James Smith, all citizens of the parish of St Giles, Norwich. Evidences supplied by David Banham; Elizabeth Everett, of Crook's Place, Norwich; Elizabeth Middleton; and Jemima Bayley. Grounds for clemency: prosecutor identified the wrong man. Sentence: 14 years transportation. Recommendation: speaks against mercy. Folios 199-205.
