Report of Francis Const, on 2 individual petitions (prisoner, and Sarah Norkett, wife of the prisoner) and 2 collective petitions (both from the 12 jurymen at the trial), on behalf of Charles Norkett, convicted at the Adjourned Middlesex Sessions held 2 October 1826, for bestiality with a Pointer bitch. Evidences supplied by James Wilkerson, Middlesex Street, wine cooper; Lucy Legg, Drummond Street; Isaac Gray, tobacconist Drummond Street, Somers Town; Robert Jefferd, New Compton Street, St Giles in the Fields; Shields Legg, Little St Andrew Street, parish of St Giles in the Fields; Thomas Norkett, Phoenix Place, Somers Town. A character reference for the prisoner is included and signed by 34 people. Also includes letters from Charles Norkett, Sarah Norkett and G W Wallen. Grounds for clemency: his counsel neglected to call proper witnesses who would have established an alibi; humanity towards wife and 2 daughters whom he has supported. Sentence: 2 years imprisonment. Recommendation: no mercy. Folios 155-186.
