KB 168
1699-1875
Entry books, with accompanying indexes to defendants (from 1736 onwards), giving a chronological record of all judgments on the civil side of the Court of King's Bench.
Each entry gives the names of the county, the parties and the attorneys, sometimes with the amount of damages and costs and sometimes with the legal fee for adding to the Entry book. The series is complete; in many cases they provide the only record of a judgment. From Trinity term 1839 to Michaelmas term 1852 only, they give the numbers of the plea roll rotuli on which the record of the case appeared.
The indexes are to the surnames of defendants, and give the appropriate page numbers in the entry book under the term headings. They do not begin until 1736, much later than the entry books themselves, and there are several gaps, one for over three years, early in the series, but they are complete from 1780 onwards.
The last item in each series has been removed as samples to J 89/13 /236-237.
