Folios 186-187. Letter from Thomas Marsingall of Boughton, Southwell, to the Local Government Board, enclosing a newspaper cutting from the 'Retford Times' of Friday 28 December 1894. It is a letter from Thomas Marsingall outlining the case for Parish Councils to be given powers to deal with overcrowding. He gives the instance of a family of 8 in a small house having only 2 rooms. All 8 sleep in one small stuffy room. Marsingall thinks the case is a disgrace to the Local Government Board considering that the owner of the overcrowded cottage has been a guardian and member of the Rural Sanitary Authority for 28 years, is a County Councillor, and now on the [Rural] District Council.
Annotated to ask the writer to state facts which will identify the house for the Board's consideration.
