Folio 168. Letter from John Kirkland, Clerk to the Southwell Rural Sanitary Authority of the Southwell Union, to the Local Government Board, acknowledging letter of 9 August 1894 regarding sanitary conditions of Southwell, and engaging an engineer to advise them. The letter was laid before the Rural Sanitary Authority on 24 August 1894. The Authority passed a resolution which notes that the last duties of the Rural Sanitary Authority are soon to expire and it does not deem it advisable to take responsibility for any scheme it cannot carry out. It also states, 'the health of Southwell is in a satisfactory state'.
Annotated: 'I suppose we can only wait until the R D C [Rural District Council] is formed'.
