[Attorney General Sir] Edward Northey [?to Lansdowne] with an abstract of an act of 1708 for punishing mutiny, desertion and false musters and for the better payment of the army and quarters. He has attended the Lord Keeper of the Great Seal and is of the opinion that the act applies only in Great Britain and that the queen can empower officers to convene courts martial abroad only under the great seal, as she did with Dukes Schomberg and Marlborough
