Description

Report of W Best [illegible in places] on a letter from [signature illegible, Pitt?] on the case of John Masters convicted at the Kingston [upon Thames] Quarter Sessions [date not given] for burglary and then convicted of a further, similar, count at the Assizes. The letter also mentions 'poor Hall, our Lunatic' who has been confined in a 'straight waistcoat'. Initial sentence: Quarter Sessions: transportation for life. Assizes: death, respited. Recommendation: transportation for life. Folios 266-269.
