Report of W Garrow on 1 individual petition (William Faulkner) and 1 collective petition (45 people of Birmingham for Guest only) on behalf of John Guest (tried with Job Brittle) convicted at the 'last' Worcester Lent Assizes for burglary in the dwelling house of Thomas Woods on 13 June 1821. The petition gives a long and detailed account of the events and trial. There is a letter from Major Thomas Henry Bund, visiting magistrate of Worcester Prison; sworn statements from James Hopkins; Elizabeth Page [x2]; Rebecca Butcher [x2]; William Roberts; John Haynes, John Abrahall Wilson, Edward Guest, Richard Guest, Henry Harding, Robert Page, John Reeves and William Fulford; a covering letter from [Earl?] Beauchamp; and a printed subpoena for Christopher Carr, Elizabeth Page, Samuel Guest and Lydia Showell[?]. Grounds for clemency: the prisoner is innocent (as is Brittle) and witnesses were not called at he trial. Initial sentence: death, respited. Recommendation: free pardon. Annotated: 13 April 1822, Both to be pardoned' and 'done, Ap [April] 1822'. Folios 92-116.
