Folio 136. Draft letter from H C Monro, Assistant Secretary, the Local Government Board, to [G E Kirkland], Clerk to the Southwell Union, acknowledging receipt of letter of 23 May 1899 regarding appointment as clerk to the School Attendance Committee. This was unnecessary as the clerk to the guardians is ex-officio clerk to the School Attendance Committee. The Board will be prepared to approve the proposed annual salary if the clerk enters into the usual undertaking to an alteration in salary if there is a diminution of the School Attendance Committee duties. A copy of this undertaking should be sent to the Board. The Board also ask if the proposed salary was in the first instance recommended by the committee.
