Description (What the record is about)
-
This series of diaries contains details of Clough's engagements, notes of things to do, and aides-memoires about what she did on particular days. The earliest diaries include notes of current events, mainly relating to the war, including bombing raids, Mahatma Ghandi's fast, and Mussolini's resignation. Some diaries, mainly dating from the 1950s-1960s, also contain references to her work on paintings-starting, finishing, re-working, good days and bad etc. Many of the diaries include one word notes of particularly cold and hot weather and notes on Clough's health.
