Description (What the record is about)
-
The special interest of this collection lies in its completeness. The charity, founded in 1502, received all the muniments of title held by its founder relating to lands granted. There are, therefore, very few title deeds of later date than 1500, while the series of leases, c.1525-1850, forms a valuable group for the study of estate administration in Berkshire. The earliest group deeds with very fine private seals and the official papers of the charity itself are specially worthy of note. For the documents listed here as D/QI Q7/5,6 and 19, all missing on deposit, see D/EZ 94.
