Lodge at the Cheshire Coffee House, Old Dock Gate, No. 53B [erased], Liverpool

Annual returns giving names, professions and residence of members of the Lodge at the Cheshire Coffee House, Old Dock Gate, Liverpool [Antients] with general correspondence relating to the running of the Lodge. Includes letters, reports and minutes relating to a charge made against the Lodge for unmasonic behaviour. Year 1799 is not extant.

This Lodge was granted a warrant by the Antients' Grand Lodge on 17 April 1775 to meet as No. 53 at the Buck and Dog, Strand Street, Liverpool but was never named. It was given a warrant granted originally to another Lodge meeting in Liverpool [SN 401] on 19 May 1756 which ceased to meet soon afterwards. In 1786 the Lodge moved to the Cheshire Coffee House, Old Dock Gate, Liverpool and the meetings remained there until 4 February 1807 when the Lodge warrant was withdrawn due to unmasonic conduct. The warrant was transferred to Humber Lodge [SN 1151], Hull on 16 March 1809.
