As noted above the General Committee was responsible for determining the general policy of the Club, its day-to-day running etc. By its very nature the kind of information which can be found in its Minute Books is very varied indeed. It dealt with correspondence both internally and externally, with resignations, it approved new members, elected the Club President, appointed the trustees and so on. The General Committee also oversaw the other committees of the Club. Information which would normally be expected to be found in other committees' minute books is often included within the General Committee's own minute books, particularly financial information.
