1543 - 1971

Description

The Burnaby connection with Baggrave began with the marriage of Andrew Burnaby, later Archdeacon of Leicester, to Anna Edwyn, whose ancestor purchased the estate in the 1680s. Although the earliest document in this collection is the grant of the manor of Baggrave to the Cave family in 1543, the bulk of the records are from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. There are letters and personal papers of Algernon Edwyn Burnaby and Mrs Minna Burnaby as well as a wealth of material relating to the family's involvement with the Quorn Hunt. This includes the hunting diaries of Minna Burnaby, photograph albums and kennel cards.
