Description

Joseph Barber (Chesham) to Richard How ("cousin") (at Theodore Eccleston's in Crown Court, Gracechurch St.l London) ... as to T.P[eacock?] 's going acourting I believe not tho' I know he design'd to go see one at Lynn Mart. this summer .... My friend Axtell is returned : I han't yet had so successfull opertunity as to pump their proceedings out of him .... any time I mention it to him he leers like a dog half hanged. Mentions Portry, R. Izard, H. Adams - 3 pair silver spurs Pray send the best means I could purchase my freedom of London & the charge to get & keep it & whether I could buy another mans freedom of him.
