Description

Aircraft at Bitteswell: Lancastrian VM.733 (AS.Sa.98/99). Canberra WV.787 (AS.Sa.123/115). Hunter WN.889 (AS.Sa.7062). Blackburn WB.797 (DM.206). Gannet VR.557 (DM.214). Lancaster SW.342 (ASV.1). Canberra WD.933, Dakota KJ.839, Gannet WN.340 are to being modified to receive new engine installations. Outside aircraft (Sapphire development aircraft): Hunter WB.202 (AS.Sa.118). Javelin WT.827. Javelin WT.830. Javelin WT.836. An accident to Victor WB.771 at Cranfield resulted in the aircraft being destroyed. Sapphire production aircraft: Hunter. Considerable trouble has been experienced on new production aircraft at AWA, due mainly to fuel system troubles. Javelin XA.544 suffered severe vibration on one engine which was later confirmed during ground running. Double Mamba production aircraft: Gannet WN.347 and WN.364 wre fitted with modified compressors whilst at RNAS Ford. WN.349 had jet pipe temperature control troubles. Python production aircraft: Wyvern VZ.776 at RAE. Mamba development aircraft: Seamew XA.209. A second aircraft with a Mamba 6 was due for initial ground running in August. Viper development aircraft: Provost XD.674 (ASV.1504) now changed to ASV.1505 incorporating strengthened 7th row compressor blading
