Microfilm copy of a ts memoir (151pp) recording his experiences while serving with the 2/15th Battalion London Regiment (179th Brigade, 60th Division) very briefly in Ireland, 1916, but mainly on the Western Front, June - November 1916, in Salonika, November 1916 - June 1917, and in Egypt and Palestine, June 1917 - 1919, describing his enlistment in 1914 and training which included how to fire a Stokes trench mortar, the hardships of Army life, his involvement in heavy fighting opposite Vimy Ridge, his disgust at the general mismanagement prevalent in Salonika and the primitiveness of the region, fighting conditions in the desert of Palestine and the soldiers' opinions of the local people and their leaders, civil disturbances in Egypt, and the bitterness caused by delays in demobilisation.
