Description (What the record is about)
-
These documents, mainly dating from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, contain similar information to leases. The letting surveys record the auction of leasehold properties and contain a description of the property, the terms of the lease, often details of the bids received and the signature of the successful bidder. The contracts for leases, as the name suggests, were agreements by individuals to take out a lease and include details of the property and lease terms. Sometimes a lease drawn up following a letting survey or contract may be found in AR4.
