The second deposit contains mainly legal material concerning the ferrers estates, including papers of various court cases; Earl ferrers v. Shirley, dispute with Stafford & Uttoxetes Railway, Tomkinson v. ferrers, and others; and a substantial member of documents re, the sale of chartley estate, staffs., 1904. There are also a member of estate records (Leics., Staffs. and Derbys.), plans and accounts. The bulk of the collection is 19th and early 20th c. in date.
