Description

1. William Hardy of Ingleton Hall, Bentham, co. York, yeoman and wife Elizabeth.

2. Thomas Tatham of Masongill, Thornton in Lonsdale, co. York, yeoman and Leonard Tatham of Masongill, Thornton in Lonsdale, co. York, yeoman and nephew of Thomas Tatham.

3. John Benson of Barbon, Kirkby Lonsdale, butcher.

Recitals:- mortgage (by feoffment), 3 February 1741 [WD WHELP 2/T 38];

- Mortgage (by lease and release), 6 and 7 February 1744 [WD WHELP 2/T 41-42];

- Sum of £500 not paid by (1) to (2) with £38 interest;

- (1) Has agreed to sell premises to (3) for £320.

Premises: all that the said messuage, lands, tenements and hereditaments, being part of premises recited above, being 1 mansion or dwellinghouse in which James Richardson now lives in Barbon, 2 barns, stables and other outbuildings, 1 garden, 2 orchards and the several closes, inclosures, dales and parcels of ground belonging, also in possession of James Richardson as farmer, being 1 close called The Croft at Home, 1 close called The Parrock at Home or Croft Head, containing together 3½ acres, 1 close called The Great Myre containing 6 acres with the parrock above it and a parcel of waste ground, adjoining Great Myre, containing together 1 acre, 1 close called High Bank and 1 close called Low Bank, together containing 4 acres, all with appurts. at Barbon.

- Paying yearly free rent of 4s 6½d to chief lord(s) of fee.
