Administrative / biographical background

Mrs. Bell's son Alex Bell is the present landlord of the Tatton Arms public house at Moss Nook, formerly on the corner of Styal Rd. and School Rd., but now on the corner of Ringway Rd. and Trenchard Rd. There used to be a small three-cornered green in front which can be seen in the photograph but is now a bus terminus. Mrs. Bell sent the photo in response to an appeal for information about the area that used to be known as Northen Etchells, in the Manchester Evening News (14/6/82) illustrated by a photograph of the Tatton Arms in 1910.
