Peter Lane Little, leading to High Ousegate, was so named because the parish church of St Peter the Little was situated on the east side of the street. 'Le Kyrklane' ran to the north-east of Peter Lane Little, from High Ousegate to the south door of St Peter the Little church The Draw Well in Peter Lane is mentioned in the 1338 deeds.
