Folio 720. Draft letter from the Local Government Board to Walter May Barton, Clerk to the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union, in reply to his letter of 10 December 1880, in which he requested sanction to the proposal of the guardians to send two girls from the workhouse to the Fakenham Industrial School. They state that as this school has been certified by them under the statute 25 & 26 Vic c 43, the guardians can in pursuance of the provisions of that statute, send the girls there without requiring the sanction of the Board. Furthermore the board considers it is competent to the guardians to provide the girls with a reasonable outfit in their leaving the workhouse to go to a certified school.
