Description

Lease and release to make a tenant to the precipe for suffering a recovery, (1) Samuel Deavin of Marlborough, glover and breeches-maker, (2) John Deavin of the same place, glover and breeches-maker, eldest son of above Samuel, (3) John Clark, the elder, of Westcott in Burbage, gent., (4) Thomas Stirling of St. Martin in the Fields, Middlesex, gent.

Closes called Mawfries, Flexfield and Westcott Severall, a parcel of land in the West Clay and another in Mann Heath; which closes and parcels of land were accounted half a yard land and formerly went by the name of Mawfries.

Also a tenement with curtilage, garden and orchard, with another garden ground adjoining called Underaishes, all situate on the west side of Westcott Street in Burbage. And also in Burbage and Westcott: a close in Rudd Mead, two roods in the East Lands, a close in the South Clay and a parcel of land in the Marsh.

These lands had been settled, by indentures dated 9 and 10 June 1766, on the marriage of said Samuel Deavin. Now (1) and (2) have agreed to bar the entail and to assure the premises to (3).

Consideration: £600 paid by (3) to (1) and (2).

Also bill of costs 'In the matter of Mr. Clark's Purchase of a Freehold Messuage and Lands in Westcott and Burbage of Mr. Samuel Deavin and his oldest son John Deavin'. (This seems to relate to above lease and release.)
