Folios 273-274. 'Appointment of Clerk to the Guardians' form, for Walter May Barton as Clerk to the Guardians of the Mitford and Launditch Poor Law Union. The form shows Barton of East Dereham, is a solicitor there and clerk to both the East Dereham Burial Board and the Shipdham Burial Board and is Deputy Coroner and Deputy Superintendent Registrar. The salary proposed is the same as the late clerk £120, which does not include Assessment Committee, Sanitary Committee remuneration. The post became vacant after the resignation of his predecessor Charles Wright on 10 November 1879. Sureties: Thomas Allday Barton, farmer, Carbrooke, and Alfred John Barton [Thuxton[.
