Book of Accompt of John Thynne, as Steward of the Household to Edward "Sainctmaur" [Seymour], Viscount Beauchamp [1536, Earl Hertford 1537, and Duke of Somerset [1547]; 17 July - 30 Sept. 28 Hen VIII [1536]. Signed "E. Beauchamp" on nearly every page.
The payments are arranged in classes, viz. [as "Apparaill," £39.9.111 1/2 f.3;- (b) "Diettes", £43.3.9½. f.6;- (c) "Rewardes", £4.8.2. f.11;- (d) "Necessarys", etc., £12.0.10½. f.14;- (c) Stable, £36.4.4½. f.18;- (f) "Expensis for £5.7.4. f.24;- (g) "Wagis", £8.6.8. f.28;- (h) "Prestes", etc., sc. payments to Lord Vaux on account of "the Capitaineship of Jersey", to the Abbess of Amesbury, etc. £203.16.8. f.29.
At the end (f.30b) is "The vieu of accompt", the total of expenses, as above, being £353.17.10 and the receipts £350.
Entries for Oct. and Nov. 1536 are made in the body of the volume but have been crossed out.
