The Lewes Waterworks Company was incorporated in June 1833 under an Act of Parliament (3 & 4 William IV cap CIV). In 1929 the Company was purchased by Lewes Corporation which managed it until October 1958 when it was transferred to Brighton Corporation Waterworks under statutory order of the 1945 Water Act..
