-letter from Robert Perret, dated 20 May 1952, concerning 'A Lodge in a Park with Children Descending Steps'. EKW's catalogue no. 991. Also includes a photocopy of a statement made by Mrs George Nichols on 23 Apri 1952, detailing the whereabouts of the painting for the previous 50 years; and a transcript of an extract from Marvy, L. 1850, 'Sketches after English Landscape'. London: Fleet Street detailing William Thackeray's comments on the painting
-two letters from John Hayes, the London Museum, dated 20 October 1960 & 31 July 1961, concerning the selection of oils & drawings for an exhibition of Gainsborough landscapes held at Nottingham University Art Gallery in 1962, and the selection of images for the exhibition catalogue. Also includes a list of of the oils to be considered.
