20 horse power double-acting sun & planet engine, with 23¾ inch cylinder, 5 foot stroke, parallel motion, cast iron connecting rod.Coloured original and reverse general view and plan of the engine and boilers, longitudinal section of boiler; reverse plan and sections of the engine and boiler houses, framing and cistern for Arrowsmith & Pennington, Dec. 1800; reverse plan of the engine and boiler houses, framing and cistern; working gear - coloured original drawings. All the drawings bear letter codes.
Original Portfolio or 'Book' No. 442. Catalogue of Old Engines p. 14.
For Taylor Weston & Co. Cotton mill, Manchester. This engine was originally ordered by Messrs. Arrowsmith & Pennington of Hindley, near Wigan, for a mill at Ormskirk. Engine Order Book No. 3 notes that the engine was transferred to Taylor Weston & Co. on 28 Jul. 1801.
