For the proprietors of Hawkesbury Colliery, Bedworth, near Coventry, Warwickshire. Winding engine. The proprietor with whom Boulton & Watt usually dealt was Francis Parrott. This was the fourth engine for Hawkesbury Colliery. The first was a pumping engine with a 58 inch cylinder, in 1777, the second was the small 3 horse power engine above and the third was the 8 horse sun & planet engine above. Parrott wrote to Boulton & Watt on 31 Oct. 1796 asking for a winding engine similar to the one they already had, but no new Book appears to have been opened, and the drawings may have been placed in Book 181 with those of the earlier sun & planet engine.
