Letter of James David Debeaune, Secretary of the Lodge at the Swan Inn, Dover on behalf of Matthew Norris, Worshipful Master, William Millie, Senior Warden and John Ruffin, Junior Warden, to Robert Leslie, Grand Secretary, stating that in 1795 when James Porter was Master of the lodge he attempted the unnatural crime of sodomy with Joseph Igglesden. Porter has since been imprisoned but as Joseph Igglesden did not tell of these events until after Porter was questioned for indecent conduct with other men, they therefore request to know whether Grand Lodge would allow Joseph Igglesden to remain in the lodge. Gives details of the events leading up to Igglesden's statement and Porter's arrest. Includes draft letter of Robert Leslie in reply, dated 20 July 1796.
