The Committee of Management decided to form a Medical Committee for St. Peter's Hospital in 1866. When the NHS was established in 1948, the Medical Committee of St. Peter's Hospital became the St. Peter's Medical Sub-Committee of the Joint Medical Committee of St. Peter's and St. Paul's Hospitals.
