Memo from Admiral Ross to Mr Saxton, Armstrong Siddeley Motors: Python twin discs

Further to discussion at the Directors' meeting on 3 November 1953, I called on the Admiralty yesterday and received the following information: 1 The Admiralty have grounded all Wyvern aircraft, pending further advice from MoS 2 Regardless of the classification of the mod. they intend that all single disc engines be modified as early as possible subject to Board approval for necessary finance 3 All the 22 spare engines on Admiralty charge fitted with twin discs are absorbed in Naval aircraft which now have single discs 4 In submitting the case to the Board of Admiralty, the Directors of Aircraft Maintenance and Repair has based his information on that which he has received from the Service department of Armstrong Siddeley Motors.
