Administrative / biographical background

Most of the property in Hollinshead Street, Chorley, and some other parcels, were accumulated by John Threlfall of Chorley, d. 1805, and Mary his first wife. One of their co-heirs was Joanna, wife of John Silvester, who inherited a moiety of the estate, and the other was the Reverend Charles Ethelston, whose son sold the other moiety to John Silvester in 1821.
